MEASURE FOR MEASURE "Injurious
world! Most damnèd Angelo!"
This particular Shakespeare
production was set in the latter half of the 20th
century, and required music that would help create a rough, seedy
and hypocritical modern day Venice. Heavy on satire, I composed on
a variety of instruments, including a Church organ for the
convent, synths, harpsichords, and a range of guitars (wah and
feedback distortion), but my favourite experiment involved
composing a pop song heard on the Duke's radio in the second half
of the show in amongst news bulletins, which is a modern pop
version with Shakespeare's traditional lyrics to Take O Take
Those Lips Away. Alas, this demo version does not actually
feature any lyrics.
